Hypertension

Half of the numbers of patients that you met is hypertensive.

Only half of them is diagnosed and aware of their conditions.

Only half of those diagnosed were being treated.

And only half of those treated were considered adequately treated. 

 

Tekanan darah tinggi merupakan salah satu penyakit yang tidak ada ubatnya. 

Apabila sudah didiagnos. pesakit terpaksa bergantung pada anti-hypertensive drug sepanjang hayat.

Masa di wad dulu, BP aku sentiasa mencecah 140/90 mmHg. Dah termasuk kategori mild hypertension. Peliknya, kata doktor, itu normal.

Hari ni, aku pinjam elecronic sphygmomanometer Amir untuk baca sendiri BP aku,

Bacaan pertama :161/110, bacaan kedua : 155/100, bacaan ketiga :158/100.

Erk, nampaknya muda-muda lagi aku dah kena hypertension :(

Tak puas hati, aku pun pinjam elecronic sphygmomanometer Amir untuk satu malam. Aku sukat BP aku setiap 1 jam.

Bacaan pertama :135/99, bacaan kedua : 125/90, bacaan ketiga :124/85.

Pelik.

Nampaknya BP aku tinggi bila adanya orang lain.

Erm, white coat hypertension kah?. Kena jumpa doktor lah gamaknya.

White coat hypertension :  

A phenomenon in which patients exhibit elevated blood pressure in a clinical setting but not in other settings believed that this is due to the anxiety some people experience during a clinic visit.
